Hinkle Cemetery

Tombstone photos and burial information can be found at US Cemetery Project

Located in Mt. Auburn Township of  Christian County in Illinois, on the north side of the Rochester to Decatur road, also known as County Highway #2. This cemetery is currently cared for, mowed regularly and active, but there is much evidence of prior years of neglect. Many of the older stones have fallen and become buried and many of the stones are lying on the ground. The fence has been removed. Martin Hinkle, one of our earliest pioneers, having settled in Mt. Auburn township in 1821, is buried here along with his wife Martha, "Patsy". Their graves are enclosed by an iron fence. (Harold and Rosella Brookens, June, 1990)

Milligan Cemetery
